The note was marked by Sir Benegal Rama Rau who was Reserve Bank of India Governor from 1 July 1949 to 14 January 1957. This gave an expansive time period for the issue date.
On the front it has “Five Rupees” imprinted in the inside just in English and India National Emblem printed to one side. On the back it has 3 deer /gazelles and five rupees written in 8 authority dialects.
The Rs 5 notes with “Five Rupees” printed just in English were issued in 1950. The notes printed from 1951 onwards had division imprinted in Hindi also.
